All About Me

After graduating with a Bachelor of Musical Theatre in 2019 at Federation University in Ballarat at the Academy of the Arts I moved back to Melbourne acquiring jobs in netball coaching and retail while auditioning for theatre shows. Throughout 2020/21 my career path shifted and in 2022 I completed a Certificate IV in Education Support with Holmesglen Tafe quickly realising that Teaching was something I had a passion for and was always connected to in many previous occupations from skipping coaching to dance teaching and hotel tour guiding.

Later in 2022, I applied to commence my Masters of Teaching of Primary & Secondary at Deakin University majoring in Dance and Drama for Secondary Teaching. On track to graduate early next year in 2024, I am looking forward to a journey into Teaching that allows me to utilise my professional performance skills and empathy for learners to build their passions within and outside of the classroom.

My current artistic practice has seen me transition into the improvisational dance area with a colleague working on a Dance for Health program that prioritises dancers and people's mental and physical health. Through monthly meetings with Grace Dance Co and connections building movement language and improvisational time with this group of dancers I gained my confidence back to take on my Masters of Teaching at the age of 26 after working casually for most of my twenties. Below are some images of recent dance improvisation sessions. Most recently an improvised performance based on the feeling of sunlight was presented at Mojo Festival of the Arts recognition of World Schizophrenia Day.

Arts Education

Connection to learning in the arts affords students to express opinion, emotion and larger ideas; generates cross-curricular learning connected to basic maths skills of counting, shapes and communicative literacies. Arts Education generates people who are resilient, empathetic, and optimistic about the world we live in.

I acknowledge the Boonwurrung and Wurundjerri People of the Kulin Nation as the First peoples of this land and for whom sovereignty was never ceded. I recognise that they are the caretakers of the earth, water, and skies upon which work, live, and teach. I respect and honor the first people's connection to storytelling through dance, art, and voice, and commit to sharing these stories and truth-telling within my classroom.
